What is Barre? | Barre Classes Casuarina
Barre is a rigorous, full-body workout that incorporates elements from yoga, pilates and ballet. These intense workouts focus on major muscle groups (including the arms, legs, glutes and core) through small, controlled movements and a high number of repetitions.
Barre workouts can be done using only your body weight and the ballet barre, but can also incorporate light weights, resistance bands and exercise balls.
Who is Barre Good For? | Barre Classes Kingscliff
Many people assume you need to be a dancer to do Barre classes, but this is definitely not the case! While Barre workouts are renowned for producing a “dancer’s physique”, the classes focus on micro movements, strength training and stretching.
Barre classes are very beginner-friendly, and can be adapted to suit all kinds of fitness and ability levels.
The benefits of Barre classes are extensive and include:
Building strength and endurance
Toning and lengthening muscles
Improving flexibility and balance
Promoting better posture
Supporting weight loss
Increasing agility and range of motion
Reduced stress levels
What to Bring to Barre Class
Our light-filled Barre studio in Casuarina is equipped with a ballet barre and has everything you need for your class. Simply bring your water bottle and a towel.
If you’re a barre beginner, feel free to arrive 5 minutes early to introduce yourself to your friendly Barre instructor and ask any questions you may have about the workout.
What to Wear to Barre Class
Wearing comfortable clothes will help you get the most out of your Barre workout. We’d recommend stretchy tights or shorts and a fitted crop or singlet – similar to what you’d wear to a Reformer Pilates class. We’d also recommend wearing grip socks to give you greater stability and optimise your workout.
What to Expect From Your First Barre Class in Casuarina
If you’ve never experienced a Barre workout before, prepare to feel the burn (in a good way!).
Each class typically begins with a warm up to get the blood flowing and your muscles moving. Next, your instructor will guide you through a series of targeted movements with high repetitions using both the ballet barre and the mat, before warming down at the end of the class.
If you experience shaky legs during your workout, don’t be alarmed. This is completely normal as your body adjusts to working your muscles in a new way.
