This is logical to me, but sometimes is not considered by those who practice and are dedicated to one form of sport or one style of yoga.
Stimulating and strengthening a muscle can cause it to shorten, increasing stiffness. If muscles, tendons and ligaments are repetitively stretched without being strengthened can reduce stability which promotes injury- not fun!
So… in summary cross training and practicing various forms of yoga, sports and or pilates exercises is fantastic to recruit varying muscle groups and promote strong, stable muscles and reduce chances of injury. Variety is key!
